Nice topic. I will add a few from my SaaS experience, Micro SaaS Newsletter and Zero To Founder experience.

    • Leverage Reddit and IH with quality posts. One high quality post is 100x better than an average one. Spend time creating quality free content.
    • Build side projects and launch on PH, IH, BetaList to drive more traffic to main projects.
    • Launch on PH multiple times. You can do it once in 6 months with some good updates for your product.
    • Having an audience is always a plus.

Good stuff! Especially launching on PH multiple times.

        Yes! this totally works

      2. 2

        Thankyou!!

what would you say is the best way to launch on Product Hunt? Should you let your network know to support the upvotes or organically see the interest in the product by people in the PH platform?

Yeah I think this is really interesting! I am just starting up https://www.krystal.works, a design subscription agency and am trying to understand best ways to market it. I think I'll go ahead and follow these to get more people to know about it. Thanks for this!

We have aws credits through aws activate program, we also get founder hub credits from microsoft azure, most cloud platforms provide credits for startup... Even the mail providers like Postmark provides credit for startup.

    1. 2

Yeah there is ton of free stuff around the web that startups can utilize to scale.

    2. 1

how long did the aws credits last you before you had to start using your own money

      1. 1

To be honest, I got initial 1000 $ which got used in the first month itself, because of a bad choice on RDS. Now we are on our own money, If thougth clearly, we could have retained it. We are hoping to get some credits as we are trying to get into some accelerator

        1. 1

Yeah that makes sense. What was the bad choice? Any tips for best practices?

In the Infra, side the most expensive would be managed database. AWS provides different types like storage options like: General Purpose (SSD), Provisioned IOPS (SSD), and Magnetic. In most cases magnetic will be fine. the other two will shoot up the cost like 10X times. For me it shot up 100X times because I was testing my cron job to run every 10 mins for 2 days with Provisioned IOPS

            1. 1

Really appreciate this abdur, i'll be sure to use a magnetic storage system.

Ok, this is not free, but one single thing that is helping me the most is Github Copilot. It is really making my coding sessions twice as productive. It is actually quite good predicting not only next lines, but whole functions too. Saves a lot of time, as I no longer have to look up things in documentation and google.

    1. 1

      Yes, especially now with CopilotX...

I would say Reddit is the best overall. Personally have gotten hundreds of users from Reddit without even going viral or spending a lot of time writing posts. Just find good subreddits in your niche and write respectful little posts. That's it.

Reddit is good but it is a tricky place unless you know how to deal with the crowd there.

      1. 1

For sure. But have to say I had absolutely no idea on this and still kind of managed to make it work haha

        1. 1

You can find a lot of posts of people here who are stressed because their posts on Reddit get downvoted to oblivion for no reason. But when it works than it is amazing source of customers/users.

Already, one of my friends shared good points in the comment section. I want to add a few other sites to bring good traffic and users to your project.

These include Quora, Medium, Indie Hackers, reddit, SaaS directory sites and especially Twitter. These are generally highly recommended if you want to build a brand with quality traffic.

We are utilizing these for our product, Churnfree, a customer retention tool. These sites have given us good results. You just need to focus on providing value to the community.

newsletter interviews. I came across Matt McGarry from trends.co and follow his content and business now. I found out about Nik Sharma from the limited supply podcast. I found out about Greg kamradt from explodingideas.co newsletter. it's a good way to get quick credibility and get exposed to a new audience.

if the content has credibility the person or brand being featured gets lent that credibility.

    1. 1

      good tip! thanks

Well there are several hosting providers and databases with great free tiers. cyclic.sh and mongodb are two good examples
