via search "entrepreneur forums" IIRC

I heard about it from a buddy at our shared workspace.

@__tosh recommended it as a cool hub for like-minded bootstrappers.

It was a direct email reach out from Courtland when he first started IH. I think we were one of the first 10 or 20 startups that got listed on here after I responded. Back then it was just a pinboard type site of various startups which you could click to get a short bio. The community has come a long way since then.

Interestingly, I get many emails per week from people wanting me to join their community etc., but Courtland's is about the only one that I opened, read and responded to. It was because it was really warmly written, didn't sound like a bulk invite, and highlighted a couple of things about my startup. It is long lost in my Inbox from years ago, but if I ever find it, I might post it on here as a guide to others who want to do better at cold email reach outs.

The podcast as well. It took me by surprise actually, I believe the founder does a remarkably good job with the podcast.

Found it on Hacker News, it was way before Stripe acquisition of IndieHackers.

Google search. Can't remember what I was Googling for. But I remember thinking, "What, this place exists?! That's like exactly what I'm looking for"
