How did you get your first 10-100 customers?

What effective strategies did you use to get your first 10-100 customers. And how long did it take? What worked and what didn’t work?

Did you use product hunt? Failure or success?

Paid ads, email, etc...

Coding is the easy part, Marketing is where the real work begins.

I just launched my new product: ChimpCharge, an all-in-one tool kit to manage client payments: www.chimpcharge.com

First 10: people in your professional network. Message, call them directly, pitch them on your solution. (Btw, you want to make sure you've done beta testing first, and can use some positive testimonials from the early testers on your landing page/marketing materials. Your professional network is an important asset, you won't get a second chance to get them to try it, if it feels like they're the beta testers themselves.)

First 100: Maybe by this point you've expended your network of warm professional connections. You'll have to start cold calling, you might get some referrals from existing customers if they are extremely happy with the product.
