How did you make the intro to your podcast?
by
Nathan Grieve
What is the best way to make an intro to a podcast or is there a service anyone recommends?
I'm working on this now. Our plan is to find a royalty free song that we like. take about 10 to 15 seconds of it and put our voices over introducing ourselves in the show. It will be pretty simple and quick. I don't think people want too much of an intro.
This is exactly what I did too for All Things Auth. Took some up front work to get the show intro recorded/etc, but now I just reuse it for every episode.
I shared some details in this other IH thread on how I found intro music, etc.
In addition to the show intro, I used to record a custom introduction for each episode that would outline the conversation to give people an idea of where things were headed and juicy bits near the end that they should stick around to hear. I really like that as a listener, but it was way too time intensive as the producer. Now, I do a live episode intro with the guest, which also feels natural and flows well. I'm happy with it.
We provide this service to our clients, where we compose a custom jingle for their brand. I'm sure there are our other service providers like us that do the same thing.
