How did you make your first $1 online?

I created a list of 400 places where to promote your startup and put it on Gumroad!

That was 18 months ago, I made more than 30k out of it (and others products) now!!

Few years ago, I made my first $1 on Etsy :D. Still remember the day, I was so happy packaging up my orders :D

$12.50 making tiny css and html edits (like change padding or margin) to existing websites, learned a lot from that start.

I built a completely overengineered iOS app that surprised the user with random exercises throughout the day.

The overengineering came from confirming the user did the workouts via measuring their lift in heartrate with the iPhone camera/flashlight. Also confirmed they did pushups by having the user put the phone below their face and measuring the distance changes between their eyes as they got closer and further away to the phone.

Spent a significant amount of time on it, and ended up making a grand total of... $74. Learned a lot though!

My path was unconventional - I was a teacher before I switched careers. My first dollar made online was from selling materials on teacherspayteachers.com.

I built an iPhone app in 2008 which displayed google map tile images (there were no map apps back then) with the locations of the South Australian Police speed cameras.

I used (and abused) google reverse geolocation lookup api and rendered their web based map tiles as images in a UIView after scraping the police website for the camera street and suburb information each day. 😊

The app was $1.99

I have made my first dollar online by making some Next.js Theme styled with Tailwind CSS.

It helps developers to focus on their product and service. Not only I handle the design part and I also handle the boring part with JS tooling configuration: linter, code formatter, type checking, VSCode, etc.

On Fiverr. Designed an ad, which was Meh!, and got $4 for my troubles. This was more than a decade ago. Things were different back then.

My users emailed me that they fear that I will shutdown the product so asked me to build a payment gateway around it. First few users paid through email invoices through paypal since it was taking us time to integrate the subscription into the product.

I sold my first custom website at 13 years old. Now I am 36.

Dropshipping spy cameras back in 2008

I think I built a simple landing page for someone on a popular internet marketing forum called WarriorForum. This was probably 15 years ago.

I originally was hunting for a way to make money online and failed to build my own product, never really took action. I made a bit of money with development then started freelancing and turned it into a dev career. This is actually one of my biggest regrets in life. I really do wish I'd have built my own products instead of chased a career. I would be far better off by now I know that.

I made my first dollar ($82 ) online in OCT 2020 from fiverr.com by creating an e-commerce website.

My first dollar ($7 to be exact) came from writing an eBook! One of the best feelings in the world!

I remember the time when I wrote some comments, spent a certain amount of time on customer sites. They paid me for that.

Made my first dollar 2 weeks ago when launching our Webflow component library ! Now it's growing quite nicely. :-)

In 2009 I built PocketBracket - an iOS app for creating/tracking brackets during "March Madness". The app is no longer released, but the old site is still online, lol.

It sold for $0.99. So technically I made $0.69 after Apple took their 30% cut. But it was my first paid product I sold online.

I found a client from a Twitter post. I helped enhance and maintain a website using a PHP framework called Code Igniter. Did it for 3 yrs alongside my day job.

Had a great time arising from freedom and earning ~ 1,200$ p.m. from a low-cost country for a few hours of work.

My first dollar was made when the first WBE Member join the community :D

I won my first dollar in 2016, I created two wordpress themes (I'm not a programmer) I just followed a youtube tutorial on how to create a wp theme from scratch and with the help of google I managed to create two themes Juliera and Magda, I sold them on CreativeMarket, they are still there. XD

I am still a 18 years old student, so I do not have any substantial revenue from it.

Freelancing, the first client scammed me for a week, got the work from me but didn't give me any money when work was done as he was the middleman but his client stuck with me and gave me a $1k project.

An app I made accidentally went viral 9 years ago, I was underage to receive payouts so I waited until I turned 16 to get it. Never looked back ever again.

I made my first 1 dollar from writing poetry. My first paid dollar poem got published on Rattle.

I started by designing logos on 99designs. Also made a few dollars by creating Photoshop/Illustrator tutorials and placing Google Ads on them.

I made my first dollar online when I created an Android app to save music ideas. I really liked to play the guitar, but I found the available apps to make a quick tablature were too complicated. So I built Song Note .

I added ads and a "remove ads" product.

Also, I used it as my graduation project, so I killed two rabbits with one stone.
