How did you make your first sales?

Hello, fellow Indie-Hackers,

I'm starting a full year entrepeneurship ride, and as I Software Engineer I'm very much aware of my strengths and weaknesses, the later unsurprisignly includes lack of experience in sales.

For me is vital that the product I build in the next months has a fool-proof sales system/funnel.

Could you place share histories or links on how you made your first sales? What distribution channels you used? And where did you "learned" to sell?

After compiling the most frequent approaches I am planning to convert them into polls and get as much of the community involved as possible.
