How did you prepare for the Product Hunt launch?

For me, it was a rollercoaster preparing for the Product Hunt launch. I was using Product Hunt daily about 4+ years ago, so it was a bit overwhelming to navigate through all the new features and options. I wanted to do it all right. So I did the research, prepared the page and all images, scheduled the launch, made sure to be ready to answer questions all day long, etc.

Will it be worth it? I don’t know. I guess the time will tell.

    Key steps I took:

    • Scheduling the launch about 2 weeks in advance as I didn’t want to launch on Easter. I could also use the meantime to prepare and tweak the page.
    • Hunting the product myself. Nowadays, I see a lot of products being hunted by external hunters. I don’t know which approach is better. But personally, I like seeing makers hunting their products by themselves and reading their authentic experiences.
    • Taking the time to make nice, descriptive images and a short introduction video.
    • Offering a very generous discount for the community. To celebrate the launch, give something back to the community and make it a no-brainer to start with the service.
