How do I find a good and affordable designer?

This is the latest project's prototype (desktop), a SaaS dashboard I'm working on. The handoff was last week to the developers. I was responsible for a wide scope of UX design for this one, starting from research, brand identity to user interface design.

I think design websites are very populated with designs that have no real ground, just some shiny user interface designs, without background, or any business relation. Creating touchpoints of any kind requires thinking on both sides, a perspective from users and also the business is essential. As designers, we need to be the ones with the knowledge, for achieving successful user experiences. UI is a very little part of this puzzle.

I used craiglist in NYC, Austin and SF and it came back with some good leads. I know a excellent designer in the DC area as well if you are interested. He just started his own design company as a matter of fact.

I have had the same experience with Upwork, too many shysters and too hard to find who is honest and real and who is just farming the work out. I would like to hear how your experience with the respondents to this post went!

Im using https://www.manypixels.co/ for Almost a year now. They do awesome work and are quite affordable. Wouldnt Go back to a single designer anymore

I have to admit, that the fact you are not designer the page has a clean layout. A huge plus for using illustrations, it makes it easier to scan. Also, it was quite understanding what you want to achieve. I understood who is your target persona.

I would have little suggestions:

• I like how you delegated the value in the headline. However, I think it can be shortened to be more... punchy! :) Also the text bellow seems too long. I would delete details like -separate tracks. The core message is then vanishing
• Visual hierarchy is lacking because there are a lot of bold texts. What should stand out, let it stands out. I don't think you need to have everything in bold texts.
• I think you had some hard time to write a body text for 1. illustration - Create an episode and choose a title. -> it seems to ... not tell anything at all :D
• if you have some social proof, let put it there, from anybody. It is quite a powerful tool for landing pages.
• I love the name - I do believe it can be interesting to visualize it in the logo and brand overall. The logo is quite big.
• You did some strong promises there, I would love to hear some difference with your tool vs. original record.
• it would be interesting to play with the idea to use the tool without signup. I would love to try it, but I hate to create accounts everywhere.
