How do I keep motivated with my side hustle?

Short answer is my users

To be honest, I made lots of projects before, but none of them really worked out. Things always started very exciting. I was dreaming my product was going to serve millions of people and only me got this novel idea. I had to do it quick, so I spent days and nights coding the product. The excitement was kinda reaching the peak the day before I launched it. I was hoping one night magic. But it turns out nobody would like to use it. I have no engaging users. My motivation eased drastically, and I was not seeing the future, so I quit. Irony is next time when I had another idea, everything will start all over again, and I'm like trapped!

But for lonely.dev, it's different. ❤️❤️I owe everything to IndieHackers community❤️❤️. I joined IH 6 month ago. Since then, my mindset was totally changed. I know I have to do my research first. I know I need to start from a niche. I know my solution should not just be my idea, but to solve real problems. I think I did all aforementioned for Lonely Dev. Before starting to write the 1st line of code, I did my research, collected emails who are interested in. Then I started to build the MVP.

Luckily I had users signed up on the 1st day when I launched on IH and saw they posted their own videos. Now it is the 3rd week of Lonely Dev community, we have new users signed up everyday and new videos uploaded everyday. I got quite a few champion members who would like to seed their content to the community which I really really appreciated.😘

Now the product is used by real people, not just by me. All new features delivered were asked by our community members, not just from my imagination. The motivation is from our members. It's not fake or virtual, it's real this time.

Even though I am not making a penny out of it, I am still very happy and fulfilled everyday. Sometimes I thought I could easily spend thousands on my habits like skiing, traveling, photography, and I am not expecting any return from them, why not the same applies to Lonely Dev as well. Now recording videos everyday and making useful tools to make the platform even better are becoming my new habits. That's my biggest motivation!
