How do I start a newsletter correctly? 🤔📰

I am thinking of starting a newsletter for my website buildfaster.co which is where I sell easy-to-use HTML themes that are beautifully-designed.
I am starting a newsletter because I want to inform subscribers of how they can gain an extra edge in web development.
Don't worry about giving me tips on the design of the landing page, I already have some 😉
It would help if you could let me know of:
- The best free newsletter platforms
- Good resources to help me start off strong (articles, videos, course)
- Any other tips you might have 😄

I'm a noob at newsletters too but I mainly have seen newsletters using Substack or Mailchimp

I tried with Substack and found it the most easiest to get started with.
I've been enjoying using ConvertKit (my affiliate link is: https://app.convertkit.com/referrals/l/022a3fe5-c9b7-4ac8-8ef1-35a770fe937f), they post a lot of useful content as well. I'm using it for https://www.indiehackers.com/product/lean-code-weekly
I am using Email Octopus and it seems like a decent tool to get the job done. Subsctack is alsoe really popular but based on what users have said in IH, it doesn't give you much control over your subscribers.
