How do people typically validate their new app ideas?

Are there websites for this?

I have build Micro SaaS HQ for people who want to build and brainstorm idea around Micro SaaS and actually build the products. This is not a typical 'validation website' but helps you keep going.

In Zero To Founder, I wrote about quickly building signup list before building the full-blown product or even MVP.

Earlier this week I started working on a new idea (shown at the end of the comment)

To begin "soft" validating (no payment) I setup a coming soon page and started sharing the link to the page on Reddit, IndieHackers, Twitter, Polywork, and Mastadon.

On the first day I was able to bring 25+ visitors and got an email subscriber.

This for me was enough validation where I decided to scale the experiment into a "real" experiment. The success case for me is sharing at least 5-10 posts/comments everyday in order to get 250 visitors and 5 emails of people interested.

If this experiment succeeds then I'll launch the website. I currently have an intern plus artist/designer from my main startup's team helping with creating the actual site so that if we do get 250 coming soon visitors and 5 emails then the site will be good to go within a week or two of hitting the goal (please note the tool is being made through my primary startup).

We have a separate experiment defined for the soft launch of the website (free version) where we want to get 400 visitors and 15 emails over 2-3 weeks from 5-10 posts/comments everyday (the site also will have organic SEO so hoping that will bring a small amount of traffic also)

If we are able to get the launch traffic and emails we want then we'll create a paid version of the site and start seeking "hard" validation through more public launches.

    Hope this helps!

By the way the idea I started working on I'm currently validating is: https://www.brandesaurus.com/
