How do you approach disgruntled users of another app?

For example if you find a lot of users who have reviewed an app negatively but still use it because they are unaware of something else out there. How do you approach or contact these users?

Ideas?

Do you have existing marketing copy for your solution that highlights the issues these users are complaining about? If not, that would be a good first step. Then when you reach out target people who use this product, your message can include a link to that content and do most of the talking for you.

As for how to approach or contact the users, it will depend on the platform, but remember that for each person who has complained, there are probably 10 (or 100) more that had the same problem.

There are probably lots of ways to reach that audience. For example you could title the content: "How [your company] solves [competitor name and the problem]", you can take out ads on it and leverage the search engine results of people struggling with that issue.

      Same advice really,

Write a content piece that either compares the features of several apps including the unpopular one or compares your app to the competitor on a one to one. These are the easiest methods. Your goal is to introduce the competitor's name into your content so it pops up in searches.

Thanks @Ebell. Yeah that makes sense. However, how to find the right platforms where these people are.
I have the username for these users from app store. Should I stalk and message them directly on that platform?
Any other ideas apart from paid advertising?

TBH, if you don't know where to find the users, then you aren't ready to market to those users. Knowing what product they are dissatisfied with really isn't enough. Start with the reviews that you have found and begin building a profile of your idea user's characteristics.

If the app store has a messaging feature, then I don't see any harm in reaching out. Just take a light approach at first. You could start with a question and make a soft pitch. Something like "Hey, I noticed that you left a negative review on {app review page}. Have you found any other solutions yet? I've been developing an app to solve this and would be happy to share some more information in case you're interested."
