Thank you very much! What product are you building?

There is plenty of method but mostly revolve around giving something as a trade for the email. Free tools, blogs, ebook, video education, free course.

Think of email as currency and it not that valuable so you need to trade it with something.

The close that something is to your main business the better the list become. If you are selling fishing equipment, writing blog about fishing or making tutorial on how to fishing for beginner make and ask their email if they want more of this.

If your item is kind of one time purchase product, giving discount for a single item as trade for email is a huge win for you.

The easiest way I found was to integrate Loops.
It is a super easy setup, and they offer a pre-built React widget.

Took me 10 minutes to get up and running.

We tried this for our latest product Product Hunt Workbook and we made around 20 sales before the launch.

First, we created a waitlist landing page using Convertkit and then we promoted it like this

    1. Built the product in public and plugged waitlist in the comments
    2. Created content around the product and plugged waitlist in the posts
    3. Built a small product that is relevant to the main product and gave it for free. In the product, we added the link. And also setup an automated email promoting the workbook

    Hope this helps 🤗

This is really helpful. What tool you use to build a waitlist?

You can use a tool like MailerLite (free for your first 1k susbcribers) and connect it to your landing page.

You will want to also create an email to send your subscribers once they have signed up for the waiting list, tell them what they should expect. (This can be done with an easy one-step automation).

To create excitement about your waiting list and future launch you will want to give something in return to these beta/early birds. Cheaper price once is launch, extra features, both... you name it.

To send traffic use your social media channels, get a bit more active and join communities, always from the helpful side.

    Hope this helps!

Do you know what tool you’re going to use for emailing updates? They should provide a widget to embed into your landing page, which should be easy to integrate into your website, whether it’s custom-made or if you’re using a no-code website builder.

If you don’t have a website yet I’ll shamelessly plug the website builder I’m working on, Pagy. It allows you to collect emails and export them as a CSV that you can then import into whatever tool you end up using (I'll also be adding direct integrations soon). Carrd is another good option too, which already has plenty of integrations.

I'm building ReactionWise, a SaaS to help chemical engineers optimize reactions faster.
I put up a beta landing page (https://reactionwise.intelligentmanufacturingsolutions.com/rw/) where you can sign up for a waitlist. That worked quite well as a first bootstrap for a mailing list.
I used leadpages, which works ok.
