How do you build Onboarding into your web app?

For Indie Hackers I just built it custom. I think that's often the easier approach than using a 3rd-party plugin, unless you plan to do something complex and you don't want to reinvent the wheel.

I've yet to do this, but will definitely need to in the future. I plan to custom build it myself because I feel like it cannot be that much more complicated than learning to integrate a third-party tool.

I think the actually challenging part is coming up with good onboarding messaging that explains things without fatiguing the user.
