Hi everyone, I often find it hard to deal with two audiences at the same time in my project. Basically it is divided between content creators and spectators/watchers... So one depends on the other and if one is missing the platform is not as valuable as it could be. Do you have any tips on how to handle it? Also, if anyone has had experience with this, did it take long until you achieved good results by getting both audiences?
My website is https://captionfy.io (one audience is creating captions and another one watching the videos with their captions).
Thanks in advance to any advice!
You need to get around the classic chicken-and-egg problem.
I'd recommend focusing 100% of your energy on one side of the marketplace at a time (supply or demand). A good strategy for kickstarting a marketplace is to figure out how to deliver value to one side even when the other side isn't present.
For Captionfy, I'd start by focusing on acquiring Supply via your free editor tool - solely as a standalone SaaS product at first. YouTube creators will join Captionfy for the tool even if there are no video watchers. When you have enough supply, with a proven acquisition channel for supply that's somewhat on autopilot, then you can shift your focus towards demand and let Supply run itself.
A side benefit of focusing only on Supply is that it could simplify your product's messaging and make it easier to acquire users.
This is some great advice thank you so much! Yeah I started by talking to caption makers and some are using (very few so far) and I will continue trying to improve it and looking for more and more users to create captions. Now and then there are spectators but they last only one visit, since there is not enough content yet.
And as you said, it may simplify a lot my search for users if I focus more on the creators, this actually makes me a little relieved right now.
Thanks again!
