How do you decide if you want to use or trial a software?

I'm currently working on https://melbado.com/ and I want to support early adopters in deciding for or against (testing) a software.

As an early adopter (especially b2b), are you taking a structured approach here?

• I.e. to document the pros and cons?
• Make notes / screenshots while trialing a software?

If you take a structured approach, what tools (e.g. Notion for documentation) do you use and what information do you collect before you decide for or against software?

How much time do you need to decide for or against a software?
