How do you diversify your income?

I found this interesting, where the author goes into their different income streams.

How does everyone here diversify their income? On one hand it feels overwhelming to try to think of different income channels, but could it be what helps us achieve stability longer term?

I think diversification is a little bit overrated if you're making money via channels you control vs passive investments. First, because, as @volkandkaya stated, it's really hard to get something to work, so you need to focus in order to succeed.

But second, because once you have momentum with something and expertise in it, growing it is almost always faster and easier than starting something new. You're better off taking your $1k/month project to $2k/month than trying to build something new from scratch and take it from $0 to $1k.

So my approach is to focus on one main active thing, and then any diversification I do on the side is passive. Mostly, that's some long-term investments I've made that I rarely have to think about.

From what I have seen on IHs it is hard enough to make 1 side hustle work.

    Focus on 1.

Ideally something you have an unfair advantage in.

Hey @charliebox, thanks for sharing my post here!

I find it hard to balance different projects as mentioned in other comments. But, more importantly, I have tons of ideas all the time and it's not a trouble for me to spin up a new product or blog, because ultimately that's not "work" for me.

For a few years, I focussed on one thing (Subsail), like @csallen mentions in his comment here. Luckily that is now very stable and brings in $2k a month with little input. This has now freed me up to explore these other projects.

So take it in stages. I would definitely focus on one thing first and work hard to grow that. You can always add smaller projects later on.
