How do you do analytics for your landing page?
by
Pierce Ng
As subject. Do you set up Google Analytics for your landing page, or use something else?
We use both GA and HotJar on our landing site https://www.unleash-hosted.com.
Hotjar adds the heatmap into the context which allows us to understand where the user is focusing the most, and also insight in what part of the site is seen the most.
I'm using simpleanalytics.com for my website oneprofile.info
The main reason why: privacy-friendly
How it looks like in real life: https://simpleanalytics.com/oneprofile.info
Currently use Google Analytics.
Does the job, but a little confusing.
GA works well here because primarily you’d want to measure aggregate traffic through your landing page(s), and eventually breaking down by which marketing channel you’re using (referrals, email, social ads, search ads, etc.) and you’ll get all that just from inserting the snippet (no additional event tracking needed).
Looking forward, my recommended stack is GA and Mixpanel, leveraging Segment to get tracking going for both. That’ll leave you room to grow as you do more with your landing page and app overall.
Old school Google Analytics of course
Thanks for the replies. Quite a few options to explore. :-)
I like the proverb "eat your own dog food", so when building any new projects (or working on existing ones), on top of setting up Google Analytics, I'm using my own made Google Analytics alerts & reports service - statsglitch.com
I was searching for a similar solution for a while, to not miss anything important happening on GA. As I'm not a marketer, I didn't want to spend much time digesting Analytics data too. So after StatsGlitch creation, now using it myself daily, I guess I'm the number #1 customer for myself.
Given how well it works for myself, I would recommend to try it out for everyone who uses Google Analytics. It has a free tier for solo-founders and already proven to be useful for a lot of different people with different backgrounds.
We use Matomo for the analytics on all our sites, landing pages and newsletters as it's free, secure and a lot more private.
We do still have Google Analytics on our main site only (as well as Matomo) as a lot of SEO tools are written for GA and it's reports.
I use Fathom Analytics for both of my landing pages. I like that it isn't as bloated as Google Analytics and also it's built with privacy in mind. It also allows you to track goals, so I can get a quick overview of how many people signed up right from the dashboard. I've also made my own Fathom dashboard public, so you can see how it looks here. Oh, and here's a $10 off coupon if you end up using it 😉.
nice! this looks good. i might end up buying it, and if so, will use your coupon :)
