How do you evaluate dev tools?
There's a million tools out there trying to make your life as a dev better in exchange for some money. There's always a bit of a hurdle to getting up and running with a new tool, so how do you decide to give something a try?
I usually find new tools through people recommending them on Twitter - the latest example I stumbled on today was Tinkerwell (no affiliation) - it gets a lot of love on there.
sometimes i take a look at product hunt, sometimes i am asking befriended devs. the best tools i ever used all came from recommendations. there is a german website for software reviews called omr reviews which took advantage of that. you can review software so its like a recommendation.. i dont know if that is working for them but its a try i guess.
Ah cool, I hadn't heard of OMR reviews, I was actually looking for something focused on German. I'll check it out, thanks 👍
