How do you feel when you visit this website?

Hey -- can you please share your feedback on Pinezki.com?
I'm especially interested if:

  • it's easy to grasp idea behind website (I assume not everybody is using Google Maps lists)
  • is the message that everybody can add their own places clear

Any feedback appreciated :)

It's very cluttered, the text disappears with the size and vs the pics ...

I don't really get why I should use this vs just google maps restaurants searches for example.. no specific notes on places?...

The messaging is poor with the design and wording IMHO that's the 1st place to work on, why should I bother with this?

"Community-curated" google maps itself can say the same for example..

Maybe specific, but there are caffe places that do great food, maybe thing of wording?...

Why not embed the map previews rather than huge links?

These huge pictures after I already pressed the place... 60%-80% of the page is gone useless...

      Thanks! Very valuable feedback!

Google is very cluttered and it's hard to find those best spots

I see what you are talking about, definitely a place to work on

      Agree

Not possible with those list unfortunately, although good point. I will think about it.

      Agree

Have you tried in google maps restaurant search filtering to 4.5+ scores for example?
The places are usually kinda legit..
Other features I like on google maps searches for example is the "Open now".. and putting a cuisine or dietary or actual food item and it's pretty good on most...
it also has many categories accessible in one of the menus that actually have things like "places for locals" (I don't remember the wording) vs groups, romantic and many more...

Not saying there isn't a place for competition, but your gonna have to provide some good value and clear offer...

They also hassle for contributions nicely..

The thing with those places is that those scores are not always legit -- many restaurants just buy them. If one wants to find the best spots he/she has to do internet research anyway, check blogs etc. (at least that's what I and my friends do)

I agree those categories and Google Maps overall is useful. Actually those lists are not a competition but another way of contributing to Google Maps -- they actually allow them to be public and searchable in Google.

You perspective gave me different context, to look from! Thanks!

Maybe you can just collect the best restaurant reviewers on google or something?

It doesn't really create any immediate emotion for me – I think you could do more with the design to inject some personality and feeling.

Also, the text is very small – I didn't even read it at first so wasn't sure what I was looking at – felt like an Instagram feed.

The photography seems nice but gets lost in the tiny squares, perhaps make these much bigger and bolder?

      Noted, thank you!

Not a modern design and it seems to be less about aesthetics (which is important) but more about the number of cities it covers.

You have a good starting point. There's a couple things I'd work on:

    • Visual Hierachy — it's not immediately clear what the website is about because the section explaining it is the smallest on the page. I'd also reduce the size of the images so you can fit more and not have them completely dominate the page.
    • Messaging — Try to speak of the benefits to the visitor instead of just stating what the app is. For example, you could combine the first two lines and say: "Discover the best places for food and coffee from the locals who live there" or something to that effect.

Addressing those two things will help the initial experience immensely.

Thanks! I agree 100%, will work on your suggestions

I am sure you can get it designed better, later.
As I can guess, you have two sets of users in mind

    1. Those who are going to search for places (consumer)
    2. Those who are going to recommend places (reviewer/local expert)

However as a visitor stumbled on this website (intention to search/consume), I got confused whether I need to review or add.

PS> Pls get rid of emoticons to the left of text.

    All the best!

Thanks for feedback and confirming some of my concerns about the website.

I will get rid of emojis, as it's highly requested -- although, can you share the reason? I've noticed that they are quite popular recently on other websites

      1. 1
        1. Multiple colors,
        2. Inconsistent shapes
        3. Looks flashy (remember popups in 2000?).

It is not user generated content which means you have control over it.

Love this idea, Tripadvisor is totally loosing its value in my eyes. As mentioned below as well, im not crazy about the emojis used, and I think that once you add in more places the picture system will feel a bit owerwhelming and I'd personally prefer something a bit more interactive. Actually SAS (Scandinavia Airlines) tried launching a very similar service about a year ago which I beta-tested.

    1. 1

Yes! I have the same issue with Tripadvisor and other websites which just shows places, but not really select them.

You mean emojis in main screen or in lists?

Do you know if SAS released that or is it available somewhere?

      1. 1

Sorry, the emojis in main screen.
Not sure, they did it so badly that I deleted my account, hehe.

I like it and cool idea. My only thought would be ditch the cookie thing. Kinda annoying

    1. 1

That's unfortunately GDPR (EU law) which requires to show it. Recently California added something similar. I'm not a big fan of that too.

      1. 1

Oh, do you live in the EU?

        1. 1

Yes, so as I see it on every site my perspective is different. But, that's a good point, I will try to hide it for non-EU.

          1. 1

Ahhh gotcha. Well all the best!

  8. 1

Love the images but could do without the emoticons. Also, I think the copy could be improved ( watch the ‘&’).

It looks good on mobile. Good Job!

    1. 1

Btw. you mean emojis on main page or in lists? and what's the reason for it? I'm just curious, because I was thinking that it's quite popular way to show information recently

      1. 1

Emojis on the main page. From a design perspective, it just seems less clean and a little juvenile. Please don't take offense, as it's just my opinion.

        1. 1

Of course I'm not! 😅sorry if I sounded offended.
I find this very interesting since more and more pages I see are using emojis like that.
          Thanks!

          1. 1

Ok, great! I didn't want you to be! =)

Personally, I dig emoticons and emojis, just not for websites. I'm probably a little old school though. lol
