Has anyone had success finding good/helpful won't downvote-you-into-oblivion Reddit communities? I'm trying to find ways to connect with more people now that COVID lockdown in California seems to be sticking around for the long term.
Reddit communities are not good places to try to hawk, advertise or even discuss something you are building. It's just not that kind of community.
I found a few but engagement is still low. So I've gone to lurker mode there and I'm spending more and more time here.
Yeah, I agree. Engagement is really low on Reddit.
Good to know it's not just me. I feel like I hear about people having good experiences with Reddit but I'm not sure how much of it is just hype.
I've tried a little bit of advertising of my content on there and it actually did bring me some leads. However, they were not really high quality. Anyway, I believe some sub-reddits about finance are active and you can get a profitable discussion in there.
As soon as I read that I thought "finance people, that makes sense" but in retrospect, I'm not sure why. I suppose I just get the impression that finance communities (like seeking alpha) are very active.
Start your own? 🤷🏽♀️
I know some people get good results from Reddit, but I can't be bothered.
As you know Rosie it worked for me but it really depends on the project. SVG icons pack was a boom but e.g. color palette generator was something that didn't get much traction even its also developer/designer related. I think people like probably more things that they can use on a daily base.
