How do you find someone to buy your Saas or a piece of it?

I've been running my Saas for 6-7 years now and it's been treating me well. I've now come to the point that I'd either like to hand it off fully or (preferably) sell a share in it. It's doing around 200k in profit yearly with only a little work.

How can I find someone who'd be interested in buying in?

Hey @TkdChamp1...did you ever find someone to buy/invest in your SaaS business? If not, I'd like to take a look. Have a small fund or can refer to one of my direct buyers.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a broker. I do M&A advisory for tech founders as my day job.

Hi @CMoorer - no I still have it, but decided to keep it. It's doing really well (also during Covid) and I don't think I'm going to get a number that makes sense. It will still be making money 5 years from now and with the amount of time I put in it's quite passive. I've had a similar decision to make with a rental property I own and also decided to keep that. In the end I would still need to buy something back that makes money - so no use.

      Thanks for the inquiry nonetheless.

Makes sense; good thing it's still a money-maker for the time being. If you ever have any projects you're considering offloading in the future, feel free to reach out.

Hi @TkdChamp1. Congrats on building your business. I'm the co-founder of flippa.com. We can absolutely help you sell your business (or even potentially find an investor). A lot has changed at Flippa in the last 12 months. Yes, like all large volume marketplaces we do have our fair share of tyre kickers, but on the flip side (pardon the pun) we also have billions of dollars $ of buyer interest looking for a home (i.e. qualified buyers who have registered with Flippa and have millions of dollars to spend buying / investing in quality online businesses like yours). Our job at Flippa is to find and match quality businesses to our ever-growing buyer pool. Note: We do A LOT of this buyer-seller matching off-market on businesses of your size. If you'd like us to review your business, and assuming you are reasonable on valuation, we can expose your business opportunity to our buyer pool and see what happens. If it doesn't close you won't have to pay a cent. If you're interested email me on mark@flippa.com and we'll work it through. All the best with it, whatever u decide, sounds like a great business. Mark.

      Hi Mark,

Flippa is/was a great project! I use it a lot myself actually and part of this business was originally acquired through Flippa actually.

However, I feel lately Flippa has been dropping the ball quite a bit. For small businesses that earn several hundreds a month it may still be the right platform, but for businesses that do more than 2-3k a month I don't think it makes sense.
Not only are there too many tire kickers - there's no focus and definitely not the right amount of service. For the price tag I would expect more.

I just asked a relatively straightforward question to one of your brokers about a site and it took him two days to get back to me - without an answer. I wouldn't want to be the one who's site he's representing.

I'm afraid that I would have to go with a different broker (like Quiet Light of FE) if I would decide to go with a broker on this one.

Appreciate your feedback. If I can help u with anything please be sure to email me directly, I'll follow it up.

Just to clear something up, Flippa is not a brokerage. Flippa is the largest marketplace in the world for buying and selling online businesses. We do actually work with a number of partner brokers though, and Quiet Light is one of them, as you can see here (https://www.flippa.com/businesses/business-brokers) and also here (Chuck Mullins from QuietLight spoke at The Flippa EXIT event a few weeks back in LA (https://www.flippa.com/the-exit/).

In fact we often recommend businesses of your size seek broker representation. You can get the best of both worlds this way with a business like yours - higher touch service, plus we can promote your business though our Flippa Buyer Network (we literally have billions of dollar of buyer interest seeking businesses like yours) as I mentioned.

These qualified buyers have registered with Flippa for us to keep them posted when we come across great opportunities (which match their preferences). We can promote your business to them off-market (in private) if that's of interest, which you likely wouldn't have known about. Or we can list it through the public marketplace, and your broker will deal with all inbound interest (tyre kickers, as you put it) anyway ;)

I'll leave it with you, I just thought there was a some missing information in your post that u should know about. In this case you can "have your cake and eat it too".

        Thanks again, Mark.

          Hi Mark

I'm aware Flippa is not a brokerage and that you have brokers on your platform. I talked and worked with several of them in the past.

However, I also know you have "site administrators" on your platform. Those work for Flippa - right?

That was the person I was dealing with. He seems to be representing a listing and in my opinion not worth his money.

I don't want to rag on Flippa as that was not the goal of the post, but at the same time my current demand is not fulfilled by Flippa and from the direction that Flippa is going in - I don't think it ever will.
Flippa is still a good site for other purposes though and the criticism I have is pointed towards specifics.

You can use https://1kprojects.com/ to sell your SaaS

how can I reach to you?

    1. 1

Yes, I'm familiar with them and other brokers. I believe I loose too much value for this particular deal if I would go through them.

      1. 1

Rob Wallings did the deal through them. He got that added value, by getting multiple buyers bidding, and holding out for TOP price.

You can use sites like Flippa and bizbuysell.com

You’re at a bit of an awkward size (congratulations!) where you’re likely too big for a ‘casual shopper’ but might be on the small side for strategics.

Would think running a loose sales process targeted at strategics would give best outcome. Happy to chat further about that offline if you’d like, my email is in bio

Yes I agree. I've used Flippa in the past for smaller sites (both selling as well as buying), but for this size I don't believe it's suitable. There's just too many tire kickers around and I guess this type of deal is also a bit more specific since I would prefer to sell part only.
