How do you find your customers?

How do you find your customers and what channel for attracting customers most effective for you?

  1. Сontextual advertising / Direct search in Google
  2. Social networks (Facebook, Instagram)
  3. Thematic resources (Forums, blogs)
  4. Some sites like IH or PH
  5. "Word of mouth"
  6. Friends e.t.c.
  7. Your option

Most of my traffic comes from search, except for when I write a post that gets shared widely, and then I'll get traffic from newsletters (JavaScript Weekly, a few React ones) and from social (mostly Twitter, FB, and Reddit).

But the more interesting question, I think, is the other meaning of the word "find." As in, how do I discover where my customers already are?

For that, the short answer is: find places where they hang out online by searching for the words they use to describe themselves. For me, that's things like "javascript developer" and "react developer" and "react forum", etc. There's a great article on exactly how to do this here: How to find your audience's watering holes.

For me cold calling, LinkedIn and reference from existing customers worked out so far.
