How do you find your initial audience?
User feedback is oxygen for makers, but outside of IndieHackers, Product Hunt, and ShowHN, where can you go to find other makers, builders and product enthusiasts to give you the feedback you need?

Are you building for builders, or building for another type of audience?
The last place to look is a site like HN or PH... those aren't your typical customers and are therefore incredibly biased.
Most of the consumers and producers at sites you mention (like HN and PH) are not the typical consumer for most products.
So to answer your question I'd say: go find where that actual audience is. The best way to do that is to search on social sites like Reddit, Twitter, or plain-old Google and see what communities you can find as a result.
If you want feedback on your idea or product, best to go to where your ideal customer already is, engage with them there, and see if you can't connect with a handful of people to give you feedback.
yeah indeed. people there like to try things out and eventually churn pretty fast. on the other hand its a great start if you have a tech focused product that is mainly used in tech as well.. i got a large userbase for a product i made just by posting on product hunt. none of them were paying but the feedback was pretty good.

Your community is paid. Why your comment isn't it purely spam?
There are many paid communities out there that are helping a lot of users. Our community is just one of those.
Not sure why you are calling the comment spam though. Is it because I wrote it about myself?
All the examples I gave above had a lot of discussions in the community helping each other. Am I missing something?

I would suggest to have a free version of your community, maybe some parts of it, and then the paid sections. I think that way I wouldn't see it as a purely self promotion comment.
Yeah, thats on the cards. We have about 7000+ free subscribers as well who will be eventually granted access to free channels as the community self-sustains.
