How do you follow up with new contacts?
by
hakosam
Say in meetups/conferences? What is your workflow?
Interesting discussion. I used to have a method i perfected over the years to follow up on people and to help me keep in touch with my contatcs. That worked so well for me in mey professional and personal life that i am transforming it into a product = ]
Does any one use any kind of contacts manager?
What is your method?
Every phone has a contact manager built-in. I assume your thinking about 'mini' or 'light' CRM.
You are right, we are building something like a CRM. My method was to educate myself to get in touch with at least 1 random person per day. That proved to be a huge source of professional opportunities. I risk to say that we dont know how 90% of our connections are doing. What are they working on, what changes happened in their professional and personal lifes......and all these are opportunities for us to help or be helped
1 Random per day, that depends if you are in the right location...
I'm talking about meeting someone new in real life (IRL) and they want to give you their contact details. Then what do you do? Say if it is a business card.
First, add them on LinkedIn latest 24 hours after meeting them. After they accept the invitation, send them a quick message reminding them where you met. After that, it really depends on how the contact relates to your business/needs. Is it a person you want to get information from or someone you want to offer a product/service to?
Linkedin very useful. There is the 'people nearby me' feature - do you use?
I haven't tried that one yet. Usually, the people I meet at meetups/conferences give me their business cards so I just look for them directly.
So what is your process with the business card? Search for them on Linkedin?
For me, once I email them, I use one of the Gmail extension that finds their profiles on Linkedin/Twitter, etc and send an invites from there.
If you have their business card (from the event where you met), you can search for their name/company directly on LinkedIn.
So, you manually look them up on Linkedin.
Do you email them? Do you do anything with the business card?
