How do you get a project to the front page of Hacker News?

I've spent the last three weeks working on C-19 Calculator, a simple app that calculates the chances a college student's classes will be online next year.

I think it's a cool project. Many of my friends and I are frustrated by the lack of transparency on if there will be in-person or virtual classes in the fall. Some of my friends were told they would be on campus in the fall only for the college to reverse their decision after they paid. My idea was to give the power back to the students and let them see the chances their classes go virtual.

These seems like something right up HN's alley but my submission didn't get any points it seems. I titled my submission "Show HN: Calculate if and when you'll be attending Zoom University"

I've commented and voted a bit in the past but mainly use my profile to lurk every morning before I start work. Does anyone have any advice on how to make a post more successful?
