How do you get paid as a freelancer?
I am curious how you get paid. Paypal, Venmo, Direct Deposit, etc. I am curious how I should get paid from the client. Are these options secure? do you ever get robbed using Paypal?

My merchant account is PayPal has been for over 15+ years. This allows clients to make payments using both Credit Card or PayPal.
Unlike traditional merchant accounts, this is a pay as you go, if you don't use it no fees. When clients use it's a transaction fee of 2.9%. Outside the North American this is an additional fee not sure how much. PayPal does offer a monthly fee service, but that's only if you're using it for a shopping cart - I think Stripe is better for shopping carts payments.
PayPal is easy to create invoices, you do have to transfer your funds to you bank if you like clean bookkeeping. They say 1-3 business days depending on your bank account. My bank, takes one day : )
My clients pay me in one of three ways: credit card, check or PayPal. The most common is check with credit card and PayPal being about equal in occurrence. I've been taking payment through PayPal, for client work and for WordPress plugin sales, for many many years now without a single incident.
In my experience, the payment preference really depends on the type of business your client is in. Businesses used to using the Internet or being involved with online transactions don't second guess paying an invoice with their credit card of PayPal account. A lot of the more "traditional" companies prefer check. People inside of really large corporations will sometimes prefer to just charge to a card because it's easier for their internal accounting (or it helps them avoid having to deal with purchasing departments and getting things paid on time).
