How do you get testimonials ?

So...I was just wondering how do you guys go with this one.

This is the situation .
I want to have a carousel with testimonials, I have got very nice comments from users on dev.to, reddit, fb, ph, hn ...and so on.

But most of them have a random user image. I have asked if I can use the comment on my site and they said yes bit I would rather have a real person...

Do you wait for users to comment or do you ask straight?

The testimonials are for https://www.colorsandfont if some of you are wants to leave a testimonial I could link hack to your company. It will be in the landing page.

Thank you so much and have a good one !

The best way I've found so far is to reach out to people you know like the product and ask. Something like

    "Hi Michael,

would you be willing to write a short (3-4 sentence) testimonial for colorsandfont? We'll include your quote on the homepage and link back to your website or any social media account you'd like us to. No worries if this isn't a good time. Thanks for using colorsandfont!

    All the best,
    Michael"

I've been reaching out recently for testimonials for https://indieworldwide.co/, people have been really nice so far about coming back with great quotes and I've already got almost half a dozen great testimonials. I've only reached out to people I know are active members and getting value from the group. My ask looks a lot like the above.

Hey Anthony apologies for the delay. I was at work.

Your approach sounds completely logical to me I could deffinately try it like that.

While researching I realized I could search for the link on twitter, many users had twitted colorsandfonts.com so I embedded three of them while I design the testimonial section.

That was really kind of you Anthony . I will have a look to Indie World Wide.

        Thank you much

    Hey Michael,

We are happy that you loved our work. I would appreciate if you could drop a few words about your experience with Draftss as a testimonial that we can showcase on our website.

Also, do you have any feedback on what you think we could upgrade further to improvise your experience with Draftss?

Using this helps us in getting a great testimonial as well as an honest feedback from the customer that you can consider improving within your service.
