How do you get the ideas out of your head?
This is how I do it...in sandskrit. How do you get your ideas out of your head? I usually need a notepad and pen to pull ideas onto paper. I could use my phone's notepad but sometimes it's not quick enough.
I find this creates a huge space to keep to the ideas flowing on that particular idea. ALmost like dusting off a clean spot on a book shelf.
Pen and paper are my preferred go to when it comes to penning down ideas. Digital tools like evernote are my go to when I'm outside and suddenly there is a idea that poof on my head I need to get it down before it disappear~~

Nice! Depending on what kind of ideas. If it's a quick draft like it looks in your Tweet, I also use my paper notebook or I write it as a comment into my code. For more permanent ideas, I maintain a "Zettelkasten". Means I make a note and file it in a way that I can connect it to previous ideas and this way my ideas build on each other and I can review them easily. Nothing beats putting it down on paper. Well, until a fully realized speech-to-text system can be built that not only takes audio notes and transcribes them but creates diagrams to go along with it. Hmmm... given what I've seen coming out of OpenAI, this might not be that far away.
But, seriously, getting it down on paper or even a note taking app (I use Google Keep) is super helpful.

I sometimes envision just being able to write in my physical notepad and that being completely translated into a file on my devices.

I once dabbled with the idea of crossing that boundary between physical notes and digital notes. The MVP I came up with was a notebook that came with it's own dedicated online portal. You would go to it and it would be paginated to match your notebook, and you could upload files, image, urls, etc. to the page corresponding to the notebook page you were on. Next steps were going to be virtualizing written text/figures like you mention. I even had a copy of the book printed out: https://imgur.com/a/Z1xR9w1. Never did anything with it though.

I can do such things only digitally and use Google Keep for recording ideas.
