How do you get users to talk to you?

I've made a Chrome extension. We've got 250 users, and they are quite active. We overlay Amazon, so currently our total user base sees content from us 750-1000 times a day, the thing is we can't get anyone to talk to us.

I've had a few people email me and had some conversations with them, but nowhere near as much as I would like. We made a feedback popup that will happen after they do x amount of searches with our extension installed, and despite 200 people seeing it not a single person decided to fill it out. From this I would figure people don't like what we've made, but the thing is no one uninstalls it. We've had ~300 installs and 20 uninstalls, and people appear to be using it a bunch.

Anyone have any suggestions over how I can get people to talk to us? The extension is free, it's www.BuyLocalized.com.

Getting customers to talk to you is a very important activity to pursue. You're chasing after the right things 👍

In my current project, we get customers to talk to us by:

    1. Chat widget on the home page
    2. All emails we send out can be replied and it'll show up in our inbox
    3. No UI past sign-up. Need to change settings? Gotta talk to us.

    Think outside the box 😅

Big plus one to this! We've found a chat widget (we use Intercom) on the website is really valuable for feedback as people are checking out the product. Plus, I love the "gotta talk to us" approach. Try to spin it positively as white glove service.

I don't know if it's suitable for us. The extension is currently free, people only need to visit the website one time. So the less friction I put between them and a download the better.

We don't have to train clients on any ui.

"Talk to us; we'll handle the rest" is a very compelling pitch..

I have gone through this and would love to hear from others as well. Some thoughts - Does your website drive the downloads? I've had luck in the past by putting in an intercom or some chat to popup on the homepage when they are surfing. I have offered to help them setup, give a walkthrough etc. Offer white glove service and then check back in again via email after a few weeks to see what they think. There is no incentive for them to give feedback. In the above process, it becomes more like an obligation for them to respond back since you helped them out the first time.
