How do you handle internal beta testing?

Let's say your extension is ready to start testing with some friends & family, but it's not ready for a public launch.

Would you

a) send them a .zip file with instructions on how to add it as an unpacked extension?

or b) just publish it to the Chrome Web Store? Is there a way to have it in the store as dark/unpublished? Does it matter?

Thanks!

You should publish it, because installing it thru a zip is hard for a person unfamiliar with these things.

When publishing, you can give a status in CWS of unlisted.
