How do you handle rejection?

We had our first sales rejection this week. I felt very negative about my product for a while after, focusing on the negative. I'm now trying to refocus on the vision the site and keep going.

    • I reach out to 10 more people, after a rejection.
    • I analyze what I did wrong in prospecting the, validating them and then reaching out. Could I have unvalidated them before reaching out? Could I have asked a simple question before it got too far?
    • A "No" is better than "maybe.. call me back in 6 weeks"... because you know you have to spend 0 more minutes dealing with them. You don't have to keep it in your funnel. You don't have to spend any more resources woo'ing them.

Rejection is very difficult. However, it's also inevitable. Just as every person will not like you, not every lead will pan out it.

One trick I've found are keeping an Inner Scorecard -> https://fs.blog/2016/08/the-inner-scorecard/

As long as you feel like you're working with integrity and focus, and pushing yourself forward, you shouldn't feel negative. Instead, welcome the rejection as a data point which you can use to improve your product. You're one step closer to 'Yes.'

Learn what went right and what went wrong and try to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

Rejection is the best learning experience and you shouldn't try to take it to heart. I know it's hard, especially the first time, but it get's easier and you'll get better as you learn from each expereince about what went right and what went wrong.
