Hey π
I want to add a demo on landing page for my product https://logspot.io which delivers insights for SaaS products.
I'm wondering how do you handle cases where you have a sensitive data on you demo?
Blurring video after recording or do you do something else?
Thanks in advance π
There are a few ways to handle sensitive data on a demo. We use a special demo account which has any sensitive data locked down. Annoying to setup, but super useful once you have it!
When we do demos we always use test accounts that have dummy data in them. There are cases where we have to use real data (connecting google accounts or interacting with other third parties) but we try to keep those outside of our demo videos or blur sensitive info in editing.
Iβm curious to know more about your use case and if thereβs a reason why using dummy data would not be practical.
There are a few reasons why using dummy data may not be practical in our case. First, we need to use real data in order to connect to third-party accounts and interact with them. Second, we need to use real data in order to show off our features in the most realistic way possible. Finally, we may need to use real data in order to troubleshoot any issues that come up during our demo.
The problem is that I would need to prepare the test data which might be time consuming π
I understand. I would recommend you spend some time in building some tooling around generating accounts with fake data. It may seem like a waste of time right now but as your product gets more and more traction, a lot more people will ask for demos. They will also be very valuable for quickly setting up different scenarios in your application, being a net positive in the end. I see you offer a demo page in your website which should be a solid place to start.
Yeah, it's seems that I'll need to do it anyway π€·πΌββοΈ
