How do you guys keep up with notifications on IndieHackers?

I'd like to get notifications of people or groups I'm following. Or, if I want to follow a thread/discussion.
Is there any chance to work on this and improve notifications? Would love to receive notifications if there are updates in the community I am moderating.
I get emails if I don't mark a notification as read in a short while. (I think somewhere around 20 to 30 minutes?) I also check IH often, 3-4 times a day at least if I get no notification at all.
One thing that bothers me a little is that, read notifications are gone forever. I sometimes check a notification on mobile, then I get home and want to quickly reach the same post, reply, or whatever the notification is about, and I can't. I have to find it from my comments or from home page.
