How do you keep your spirits up when trying to compete in a crowded market?
My product, Bartleby, is advanced writing software for ambitious projects like novels and dissertations and books. Just this morning I discovered YET ANOTHER competitor that's already very far along with what looks like a lot of traction and a lot of fans.
However, I know that my product is already more advanced than theirs and I haven't even publicly launched it (still looking for qualified beta testers). I already beat several of their features and my roadmap will beat many more.
Still, though, it's so disheartening to know that the hill is even steeper than I thought it was, and it's so hard to stay excited when I know there are so many options out there so much farther along than mine.
What do you do in this situation?
It is hard. I can relate. I'm writing a book on Rails in a world where everyone is obsessed with JS. It's dis-heartening to see someone announce a JS framework that doesn't exist yet and garner 1K+ emails, and here I am, still trying to make it to 50.
So, what do I do in this situation?
I like to leave little nuggets of love on posts like this just to say "keep going, you're doing great."
That's honestly, all we can do.
P.S - Bartleby looks awesome! If my book wasn't already nearly completed I would have used this! I used Pages and not having some type of integrated outline was my biggest pain point when writing.
