I routinely review the past few weeks/months and look for places where I made mistakes or could've done things better. Then I read through the list and check to see if I'm repeating any of these mistakes with things I'm working on now. Usually I am. Identifying bad habits like this is the first step to fixing them.

Admittedly, this is the perfectionist approach to self-improvement: try to take away all the bad.

A rosier approach might be to first identify all of your strengths and great decisions, and then to make sure you're repeating them or even doubling down on them.

Ya, that's intense but seems effective! Thanks for replying!

I recently wrote a very long article on these topics. My primary focus was on accelerated learning but also covered avoiding procrastination and distractions. If you are looking for resources/references, check it out--I quote tips from @90 people in various fields.

As I did the research, I found the information about the impact of sleep on your brain's ability to function and the causes of procrastination to be personally helpful. I have not yet managed to develop better habits though. Still working on getting from the "just do it" to the "daily routine" stage. :)
