How do you manage consistency?

I tend to get random spurts of motivation, leading me to create content and pursue side projects.

Eventually, this flow... stops. And I'm not sure why.

I'd love to create consistently, but I haven't figured out a system to stay consistent. Do you have any tips?

    Here's the base system that I use to stay productive: https://loot.taskslayerz.com/gamify-my-tasks

    Essentially I gamified my tasks by adding points to them, from there I created a list of tasks called Quests that are my recurring tasks I complete daily. While Monsters are one off tasks that get slayed when completed.

    Right now I'm documenting an advanced system on top of the base that takes longer term projects and turns them into "Dungeons" with associated rooms and monsters to be used to track tasks and milestones in a project over time.

    My core tips would be:

    • Have 1 location for your tasks and maybe another for your calendar
    • Plan out tasks for a project up to a smaller but solid milestone to get momentum
    • Make sure to consistently update your task tracker and calendar so that you see what you haven't done and have to do to balance the work

    It's natural for flow to stop after initial rush of starting something new (pretty sure [not a neurologist but have seen readings] this is actually a dopamine problem that entrepreneurs can run into where they think new ideas are instantly better than old ones because they haven't tried on them yet, when this happens it's important to slow down [maybe like week or two] and actually analyze the idea to see if it's something worth resources or if it's just a case of "shiny object syndrome").

    Hey there! I was there. You are motivated and advancing a lot, but suddenly everything stops.

    What helped me was creating habits and discipline. If you can successfully establish one habit, it becomes like a cornerstone for maintaining consistency in all the projects you want to pursue.

    In my case, I put a lot of effort into developing the habit of reading every day, and suddenly studying consistently becomes easier, work becomes more manageable, and even exercising becomes a regular part of my routine!
    Being consistent was challenging, but with the right amount of discipline, you can achieve it, and it becomes easier with time.

    In my opinion, the best approach is this: First, envision what you want to accomplish. Then, focus on building a set of habits that you know will help you achieve all your goals.

    Start with really easy tasks (like reading for 10 minutes a day) and gradually increase the intensity with time and one or two additional habits. Try to resist the urge to do too much right from the beginning. I know you can do it, but the objective is not to achieve it for just one week or one month; the objective is to maintain it for the rest of your life (or until you accomplish your goals).

    Set a minimum standard for what you can do daily, even if you don't feel motivated enough. This way, you'll feel that you've achieved your daily objective.

    You can't rely solely on motivation to achieve great things. Motivation might let you down, but habits and discipline won't. They will keep you on track and push you forward, even during those times when motivation is lacking.

      Great solution, if I can add on that. It is important to have goals in the short term. If you allow yourself huge goals in the long term it will be hard to know where to begin and see the progress.
      A great way to push yourself to respect your goals is to share your progress.

      Aha yea, exactly. The consistent goals can be helpful, but I've ran into the issue of feeling overwhelmed when I go to check one thing off and end up putting two more on.
