I have a lot of notifications. Too many in my opinion. Do you have this problem? I miss a lot of things. I forget a lot of things. I trim some services and I add some new ones. It's a continuous cycle.
I'm asking because I want to know so I can try them out and I'm building a tool www.renotify.io to solve my personal problem.
Turn off all notifications and live a simple life.
no calls.
no calendar invites.
digital detox once a week.
OK. I'm not sure this actually helps, but thanks for your thoughts.
Totally depends on your own anxiety levels. I've known people who detox for 24 hours to have higher anxiety because of the disconnect.
It's taken me years to get out of FOMO and start JOMO (Joy of Missing Out)
but I also worked on cruise ships for the early part of my life and had stretches of 6 months away from it all.. for 5 years. It just fit my style. And then had to get back to it recently. Better now.
Oh, I see. For me, FOMO or JOMO isn't the issue. Turning off notifications and detoxing doesn't solve the problem. Going on a detox does not help manage the notifications. It just keeps me from noticing them.
It's like cleanses and no alcohol months. They don't solve the actual problem. Lifestyle and habit changes need to happen to lose weight and keep it off or change drinking habits.
I am looking for tools and process changes others have used to make long-lasting impacts on how they manage notifications.
Thanks for the discussion!
