Feeling that it's harder and harder to bring traffic to apps on Shopify. What methods do you use? Like what actually made a difference for you?
disclaimer - I'm not a Shopify app owner or developer, but I have analyzed over 100 growth stories and found one that is really relevant to your question
here are a couple of things SuperLemon did that helped them reach over $29K in MRR
Their main growth channel is of course the Shopify App Store.
Their main playbook was quite straightforward:
They started with a freemium model and provide the bare minimum feature set that every other app was providing, but give it away for free in order to attract users.
The Shopify growth flywheel in motion:
more users > more conversations > more reviews & ratings > higher search ranking > more users
Hey, we just released a shopify app today, I actually have the same question.
Mind sharing what kind of methods you have used?
We just started a few campaigns via shopify itself + Google
So far I've tried app ads on Shopify itself. We got quite a lot of impressions, however not that many clicks, and installs. Highly depends on the niche I would say.
Also, the reviews are really important, if your star rating is less than 4 it will hurt your installs. Still figuring out how to incentivize users so they would share more feedback there...
Also got some listings in articles about Shopify apps, which was really nice, but it takes time, for some - I'm still waiting for results to come.
I know there are apps like sixads that help you advertise your Shopify app, but I wonder if it works with a lower budget. Looking for advice!
sixads seems to be for Shopify stores and not shopify apps.
Yeah, I think listings in articles about Shopify apps is the best strategy, if you look at backlinks for the most popular apps - thats what they all do.
Could you share the names of those listings? Thanks!
I would suggest to go to a landing page for a big app,
they use this tool to see for yourself https://ahrefs.com/backlink-checker
there are different categories of apps so some might have different backlinks
