How do you prove the number of subscribers of your newsletter?
Is it possible to prove this number somehow? Maybe independent of any platform?
I am working on a platform for newsletter cross-promotion, Pipewing, and I think it would be cool if the size of the audience of the registered newsletters could be verified.
Uh, it's hard unless the platform they're using has a way to "expose" that number. Then you could build an API on top of the platform and get permission to obtain the total # of subscribers.
Something like IndieHackers does with Stripe.

You can get people to submit screenshots of their subscriber numbers. You don't have to verify it yourself if you lack time. You can leave it to the other newsletter writers to verify!

Revue shows the subscriber count of each newsletter but publishers can optionally hide it.

At SparkLoop we've been running Match a free, done-for-you version of your new product for a few months now.
We verified the size of each newsletter's email-list with a screenshot and manual verification.
You can use APIs to do so automatically (with the exception of Mailerlite IIRC), like we do for our free Proof tool which allows you to embed current subscriber counts anywhere on your website.
Probably not worth the effort though. At least not until you're getting so many new users that you can't spend 5 seconds/user checking their screenshots. Which hasn't been a problem for us with hundreds of Match users so far.
