How do you recover after "missing twice"?

Many of us find ourselves in a similar situation—juggling full-time employment with side projects.

I embarked on my first side project roughly two months ago and experienced some traffic/sign-ups last month. However, life got in the way and I "missed twice" (as coined by James Clear in Atomic Habbits) causing me to step away from the project for a few weeks.

What are some good tips for bouncing back?

Some important (from my perspective) things to do:

👉🏻 Break It Down: Smaller tasks are less daunting.
👉🏻 Accountability Partner: Share your goals with someone from the beginning!
👉🏻 Celebrate Wins: Even small progress is worth celebrating.
👉🏻 Adjust Expectations: Progress might be slower than expected.
👉🏻 Be Patient: Keep at it, success takes time. Good luck! 😊

Maybe it is more like "mindset" change but it is super helpful.

    • Give yourself permission to step away and disconnect with it fully in order to reset and give yourself time to process the feels. This is legitimate and if you don't you build up toxic angry energy
    • Revisit what inspired you in the first place
    • Find a new way to change your approach
    • Focus on ground up basics that you can improve
    • Find the positive take aways and maybe apply them else-where? Life is a journey and it's okay to take lessons and move on.

Have a support system, don't go through it alone.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, You're farther along than before you started.
Pick something as small as possible to try and get back on track. Ideally something that would take less than 15 minutes to so.

In my experience, it helps to find a good answer to "Why now?" for the project. If the answer is compelling, you'll be motivated enough to overcome the resistance of getting started again.

    Good luck!

Resuming your side project after a little hiatus:

Start Small: To recover momentum, start with modest chores.
Prioritise: Determine the most important topics to concentrate on.
Make a Schedule: Set aside specified times for your project.
Accountability entails sharing your goals with someone who can help you stay on track.
Understand why you hesitated and make changes to avoid it in the future.
Consistency over Intensity: Consistent small efforts are preferable to occasional large ones.
Remember that side projects should be fun, so strike the right balance for your lifestyle.
