I’m curious about sponsoring a newsletter, ie. advertising my product in there for money.
How do you find and connect with newsletters that are open to this? And do you have any tips to do it most effectively?
Would love to hear your advice! 🙏
Reply to their last email. (yes subscribe) and ask if they do sponsorships. Give them a link to your product just in case they can check it out first.
They will most likely either send you info or direct you to a page they set up. like a media kit.
Depending on your budget you can also seek out newsletters in directories.
LetterWell
Paved.com
Thoughtleaders.com
or search through any newsletter directory and find ones you like and think their audience would buy your product.
I spent $1k in newsletter ads last year. I just kept all info in a google doc.
Thanks for sharing, Andrew. That's very interesting. :)
How did the $1k spread across newsletter? How many newsletters did you sponsor and how many subscribers did they have?
Was it worth it to you?
It was worth it to me.
How it spread: Like butter
How many: around a dozen
Subscriber count: Varied from 10 to 10,000
That sounds awesome, Andrew! Thank you so much for sharing these stats. I might have to consider sponsoring a newsletter in the future. :)
I'm curious how you go about finding newsletters, and how do you qualify them? Are there newsletter aggregators that have categorized lists of newsletters or anything like that? Or is it just running "<subject> newsletter" style searches and subscribing to whatever pops up on the first couple of pages?
When you contact them, are they usually willing to provide stats like subscriber count, open/click rates and the like?

Thanks!
Makes sense, and this is what I had in mind. Thanks for the response!
I started a newsletter about 3 months ago. Got some inquireis which is great and I think the best thing could be to find newsletters you like that might have your relevant audience and give it a try.
We just did a first test and it was very positive with 10% click through rate. Think they will continue :)
Hope this helps
As someone who has never done anything related to newsletter ads, 10% sounds amazing.
How did you promote the product in the newsletter? Do you maybe have a link to the issue?
Hey
I had a header stating it has a partner inside the mail.
opening words i added a sentence connecting to the promotion and why we have them.
made sure i wrote good content, story like and good pic, made sure people understand where to click.
note: it did not have a discount.
So far it seems purchases have been several hundred dollars and they are happy
Amazing! @Streetwise, thank you very much for helping us out here. This is great!
I'll have to consider sponsoring newsletters in the future.
my pleasure man :)
Good luck
That's a great click through rate. I'm optimistic about this channel :)
What's your newsletter?
me too my friend.
my newsletter is curating things online in Hebrew, some tech, finance, fun stuff.
Ok, sounds like a great newsletter, however with my total lack of Hebrew language skills, I will sadly not be a subscriber 😆
From what I gather it's mostly down to researching newsletters you want to advertise on and then reach out to the owner to see if they are open to advertising.
Yeah I've found this to be the most effective method. Most newsletters can give you some detailed stats about their subscribers, open rates, demographic and a price for sponsorship.
It can be quite time consuming to do it this way but you do have full control.
Hi there, I profiled a few startups that were doing this! I would reach out to one of them, but I think your best bet is Swapstack.
