I use a few analytics tools (Google Analytics, Heap, etc.). There's a ton of data in those tools, but I find it hard to keep it all organized and actionable.
How do you organize your analytics data? How do you track your funnels? Have you found any helpful tools that help with this?
Thanks,
Scott
There are a few tools that you can use to really understand and track your metrics.
Make sure you understand your customer journey
It is important to define your customer’s journey from the time they get to know you to where they pay you.
Measure your conversion rates for each step of the customer journey
What percentage of your visitors become potential leads? How many of those leads end up signing up for your free trial, test product, freemium account? What percentage completely understand your product and take full advantage of it? And how many people end up paying you? If you understand your current conversion rate for each of these customer steps, you can then set goals for each.
Manage your leads properly
Use Intercom to pour all the leads into a single place. Everyone from your contact form enquiry, demo meetings, to a website chat conversation who can be our potential customer should be managed from a centralized place. Intercom lets you qualify your leads, segment them, and track their journey.
Track financial metrics with Servicebot
Understand the key financial metrics. You need to know who is paying you, how much are you making per mont (MRR)? how much per year (ARR)? How much each customer pays you on average (ARPA)? How much are you spending on marketing? How much does it cost to acquire a new customer (CAC)? How much does each customer end up paying you throughout their lifetime (LTV)? Use Servicebot to price, sell, and analyze your key financial SaaS metrics.
Use Databox to visualize your metrics
Databox is an amazing data visualization software as a service. You can connect it to Google Analytics, Intercom, and Servicebot to get your dream SaaS dashboard. You can have your daily report mailed to you every morning or use their incredible mobile app. Here is a demo one I made a few weeks ago: https://app.databox.com/datawall/23078dec878238a1b1a7881d4c56b94605afde1ea
How did you make that
Sorry for the late response, I wrote an article about it if you're interested: https://blog.servicebot.io/build-your-dream-saas-dashboard-using-databox-intercom-stripe-and-servicebot/
Google Analytics is probably the one you want to be looking at here most. It allows you to measure, cut and slice your data in almost every imaginable way, at zero cost (for non-high traffic numbers).
The 'Home' button in Google Analytics should be solving most of your organization and actionable desires, though I rarely find myself using it. Try this simple dashboard I just set up recently: https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/template?uid=gOc_huUsRU27PVZmESxWCQ. You probably have to change the 'Placed an order' goal to match your primary goal in GA.
Also, correct goal setup and ecommerce settings (if applicable) are a must if you want to keep proper track of how your acquisition channels and website is performing.
If you do pageview tracking: Google Analytics for sure. But if you do event tracking, try Amplitude Analytics.
You can use both at the same time if you want.
Going to second others saying Google Analytics. If you find it opaque or confusing, it may be worth hiring a consultant to do a one-time setup and walkthrough with you. I'm putting it on a couple of my sites right now and I've got to admit: It's gotten confusing. I'm considering hiring someone myself.
Other than that, consider https://baremetrics.com/ for revenue-oriented metrics if you're using Stripe as your primary method of payment processing and operating on a recurring revenue model.
Google Analytics + Google Data Studio
We also do a bit of data entry into manual spreadsheets (slowly integrating with Google Data Studio)
