How do you track and work on your productivity?

I am a procrastinator! There I said. And trust me it's not been easy to accept that I was one and more importantly that it was indeed a problem.

A few months back I took a break from work and have been trying to work on a few ideas but even though there is progress, it's so small that it feels useless. Looking back I end up cringing and feeling demotivated. I want to be able to focus and be more productive.

Recently I have started many small but significant changes but still feel that there should be a better way to go about things - Use my mind on things that really matter while being healthy both physically and mentally. Also keep track of my progress in a way that it motivates me to keep going.

As a community of makers, I am sure more of you have been in my shoes. How do you tackle focus and productivity issues? Do you use any tools, any specific process that has worked for you.

Also, if I was to develop a tool what are the areas/problems it should touch upon for you to find it useful.

For me a small feeling of progress every day builds momentum. Sometimes I have lots of momentum and sometimes it fades, but it can always be built up. I started reading just one or two pages a day of a history book last December and it was so good and interesting I started to read more and more books and now am dedicating 3 hours per night to reading to double my knowledge as I know that will lead to good things.

I hope you find what works for you.

Thanks for sharing James. Sorry, it took me a while to respond.
