How do you use Notion *outside of work*?

Hey friends! My company is focused on giving people the tools, training, and support they need to break out of their burnout cycle by better balancing work, play, and rest.

One of our products is a bundle of Notion templates that I'm currently updating. It's currently got lots of productivity-focused templates, like quarterly and weekly planning, a basic content calendar, etc. Where the update is focused on is building out the "play" and "rest" template selections.

To that end: I'd love to hear your ideas. How do you use Notion for these things?

So far, the templates I have planned/created for non-work activities are:

  • Health tracker (for both physical and mental)
  • Journaling
  • Habit tracker
  • Meal planning
  • Entertainment tracker
  • Housekeeping/cleaning schedule

Would love to hear any other cool use cases and be able to represent experiences outside of my own in the product. 😀

Main uses cases outside of work:

    • Documenting learnings/tasks when I work on side projects. It's almost a brain-dump of sorts that allows me to pick up where I left off when I start on my side projects after a few days off.
    • Storage of links and reading notes. I have started compiling my favorite articles in weekly buckets and I jot down notes and interesting learnings/takeaways
    • Blog post/writing ideas. I have a list of topics I am interesting in writing about in the future, got the idea from David Perell's post on writer's block.
    • Business Ideas. My mind always comes up with random projects and business ideas. Some of them are worth recording to consider later when I have more time (who am I kidding?)
    • Dev Tips. As a software developer, there are general "tips" that I have picked up that I don't use often enough to be something I remember, but often enough that I can save myself a lot of time if I just document it once (e.g. dealing with a common error scenario).
    • Movie List. Just a table list of movies that I want to watch in the future
    • Goals for life. Just a board of my prioritized goals in life, something I try to revisit every few months just to make sure the things I am doing are aligned with my values.

I have created a [Morning writing routine template[(https://www.notion.so/Morning-Routine-e4b758d878e44ad8bf4ae9163e9f9f51) that I find very useful. It got some interest on Twitter and I decided to make a template that is accessible to anyone.

Let me know what you think!

And semi-work related, side project built with Notion

I use it for writing, book marking and as a personal website.
