How does one become a product manager? To get some professional experience...

I want to get out into the real world and get some experience. But maybe not full-time, or unpaid or so. I don't like pressure tbh, I like to have the freedom to choose what excited me.
Nevertheless, I'd like to understand better how professionals build products.
