How has 2019 been for you?

Ha, I don't know where to start. Got to 50k+ MRR, then sold the company. Then I figured out that I love writing, and that people like to read what I write. Finally, I have time to spend with the love of my life AND learn new things every day. Best year yet.

Have you achieved what you wanted to?

And beyond. In January 2019, I wanted to continue growing the company sustainably. Never thought of selling it (even though we built it as a sellable business). So I guess we slightly overachieved.

Any low or high points?

Funny enough, handing over the company was both the low and the high point of the year, professionally. A new chapter opens, an old one closes. And no one prepares you for either of those. You miss what you had, and what you now have is frightening and new. I learned so much in the two years of building and running FeedbackPanda with @daniksimpson, every single day.

Most memorable moment?

Meeting all the wonderful bootstrappers and indie hackers at MicroConf Europe. As a first-timer, I was swept away. And I immediately knew I had found my tribe. Being on stage for an attendee talk on my very first MicroConf... yeah, that was pretty memorable.

How has 2019 been for you?

  Have you achieved what you wanted to?
• Absolutely. Got a 100% remote job as a senior data engineer that allows me to become a digital nomad (finally), moved to Mexico City to be with my girlfriend, and finally figured out which product I wanted to start building
  Any low or high points?
• Low points: leaving my coworkers at my previous job and my close friends in San Diego
• High points: moving to Mexico City
  Most memorable moment?
• Probably walking across the US-Mexico border for the last time as a US resident

How has 2019 been for you?

A real rollercoaster! Started the year as a CTO in a pretty great job. Ended it as a co-founder in 3 projects and a solo studio owner.

Have you achieved what you wanted to?

Well, we survived. That was my baseline for this year. I won’t lie, it’s been hard. Next year is about foundations and providing a bit more security to take bigger leaps. I didn’t know if we were going to make it this year.

Any low or high points?

Low point - being diagnosed with ADHD, crying in the kitchen and trying to kick smoking.

High point - being diagnosed with ADHD, realising I could help others - and should be building more meaningful stuff, and successfully kicking smoking.

Most memorable moment?

January 16th - my son was born and my life changed forever. 😊

Thanks to the IH community for being a constant source of inspiration and hope - even in crappy times.

Also we just started having an IH Meetup in Gothenburg, (thanks @RoryK), and it’s been great!

How has 2019 been for you?
Meh. I had lofty goals for this year and thought I’d be much farther along. So 2019 was disappointing but I’ve learned a ton and am still proud of the little progress I did make.

Have you achieved what you wanted to?
No. I thought I was going to have the 2.0 up by the end of spring, and I’m still working on it 😅.

Any low or high points?
High points:

• launching the public facing part of the app (profiles of every member of Congress and their weekly points) because it meant people could start playing and use what I built, even if it was very manual.
• running an Alpha with ~80 participants. People are so hyped for the final product and I can’t wait to deliver it for them.

Low points:
-trying to freelance for pennies while also making progress on the app. Freelance stole so much of my time and it wasn’t even worth it. Was pretty disheartening.

Most memorable moment?

• Rep Ayanna Pressley (MA-7) tweeted about Fantasy Congress, that was very exciting 😁

It's been amazing! Launched my first product ever Solfej (https://www.solfej.io/). Got 500+ beta users.

I get to combine my three passions engineering + design + music in one project and I love it.

The app solves a problem that I have, and it's already been helping the users progress in their music journey.

I feel so many emotions, the biggest one being self actualization :)

• How has 2019 been for you?

It has been fantastic! A lot better than 2018.

Last year I posted for my first year review and I cannot wait to do mine for this year.

• Have you achieved what you wanted to?

I have been able to accomplish 80% of what I had planned for this year which have given me a lot of confidence and enthusiasm for next year.

• Any low or high points?

There has been a few high points, some being:

• Public releasing my second attempt at a SaaS product I developed.

• So far I have read more books than last year which I'm both surprised and excited about.

• Starting to exercise again and enjoying every minute of it.

• Learning a lot about myself and making needed changes.

• Started learning GraphQL which is something I've been wanting to do for the last year.

• Most memorable moment?

This would have to be the decision to stop drinking alcohol completely, something I never thought I would be able to.

It is amazing how my mental clarity, energy and overall wellbeing has improved since I stopped.

On Monday it has been 3 months since I stopped which I am really proud of.

Hey Rosie,

• It was a year of continuous learning and iteration. We hit our revenue goal. We finally got our website back on track, re-wrote our copy, tweaked colours, font and added SEO (yay).
• We won and worked on some awesome branding projects and helped build huge value for our clients.
• Low point - I'm a super positive person... so if something bad happens I put it down to a learning.
• Our most memorable moment was knowing one of our start up clients got Sydney Entrepreneur of the Year and their brand is the 7th fastest growing RTD in Australia.
