Hi everyone! This is my first post in indie hackers, I've been following this comunity for a while but never signed up before. I want to share with you a little bit of my history.
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. For the ones that don't know Venezuela is a third world country located on Center America. Growing up in Venezuela was definetly a challenge since the corrupt politics have been runing the country since I have memory. However I'm grateful because I always had a roof over my head an food on my table.
Since I was in high school I always find myself interested in music and when I graduate it I started studying sound engeneering however my situation got more precaurios and I had to move to Chile in the 2016.
In Chile my situation always improved but I still was eager to building a career but the education in Chile is very expensive and as inmigrant was really dificult to enter into student loans or something like it. Later that year I decided to take action for myself I knew that I don't needed a formal education to build a career, so long story short I choose design.
Why design?
I always knew that I wanted to work on a creative enviroment, but also something that allows me to be logical. This is what difirintiates art for design
I got specifically into web design first because I had a little background with HTML and CSS but i really didn't liked to write code but I love to build "stuff that looks good" I started playing with adobe XD a lot first and I started to build skills as I go.
In november of 2018 pass to work on starbuks to a design agency named Reactor, It was definetly one of the best experience that I had, I learned so much from everyone there, at the beggining of course was inditimidating becasuse I thaught they wouldn't valued me becasuse I didn't have a formal education - guest what? - THEY DIDN'T CARE - Now I'm living in the US working as a freelancer and I'm very grateful for the experiences that I had .
If you're reading this I just want to say, you can do it, your past doesn't matter, keep looking forward, go work hard for your drems, you'll get there, I know I don't have tons of experiences, this is my personal experiences, I'm not best designer, I'm not the most disciplinate. But I have conviction.
I believe in you.
I would like to know what are the challenges that you're facing right now as a designer
Thanks for reading.
