🚀 How I Blended Sokoban with Match-3 Mechanics into a 3D Puzzle Game: SokoMatch 3D

What happens when you mix the brain-burning logic of Sokoban with the addictiveness of Match-3? You get SokoMatch 3D — a game that surprised even me during development.

As a solo developer and puzzle game addict, I wanted to build something that feels fresh yet deeply familiar. After many prototypes, I found a strangely satisfying fusion: what if you had to push blocks around like in Sokoban… but match them like in Candy Crush?

That’s the core idea behind SokoMatch 3D — a 3D puzzle game where you don’t swap tiles, you shove them into place.

🧠 How It Works

In SokoMatch 3D, every level is a tiny spatial logic challenge:

  • You push adorable animal blocks around a 3D board.

  • Match 3 or more identical animals and poof! they vanish.

  • Every move counts — push the wrong block, and you may get stuck.

Think match-3, but every match requires tactical movement. It's like playing chess with a Rubik's Cube made of pandas.

❄️ But There’s More…

To keep things interesting, I added mechanics like:

  • Ice blocks that freeze pieces in place

  • One-way arrows that restrict movement direction

  • Carefully designed layouts that demand foresight and clever positioning

Each new mechanic forces you to rethink how you approach the puzzle. It’s not about speed — it’s about precision and planning.

🎮 Why I Built This

I’ve always loved games that don’t rush you, but make you feel smart. I wanted to build something:

  • Challenging without being frustrating

  • Cute but not childish

  • Strategic, logical, and deeply satisfying

Most importantly, I wanted something I’d want to play. I ended up playing my own test levels for hours… just to find that perfect move.

👀 Try It Out

If you’re into puzzle games, indie experiments, or just love games that make you feel clever, you’ll probably enjoy this.
