Hey Indie Hackers! π
I recently launched a side project called Grow a Garden Stock β a real-time inventory tracker for the Roblox game Grow a Garden.
It's a simple tool that helps players track in-game shop stock (Seeds, Gear, Eggs, etc.), see countdowns for when items refresh, and even monitor in-game weather changes.
As a casual player myself, I noticed one frustrating thing: the best items in the game appear randomly, and itβs really hard to keep track of whatβs available in each shop at any time. Most players just keep refreshing the page or wait for Discord pings (which are delayed).
So I decided to build a browser-based, no-login, real-time stock viewer that anyone could use.
It scrapes public in-game data every few seconds
Organizes items by category (Seeds, Gear, Cosmetics, etc.)
Shows countdown timers for when each category refreshes
Includes weather data to help users plan their garden
Works on both desktop and mobile
No login, no ads, no fluff. Just the info you need.
The tool has grown to 1,000+ weekly page views, mostly through word-of-mouth.
I shared it in a few Roblox Discord servers, and players started using it daily.
Some even requested features like push notifications or filters by rarity.
Frontend: HTML + Tailwind + some Vue
Backend: Node.js + Express
Hosted on Vercel + MongoDB for logging
Data pulled using headless browsers & API tricks
I tried to keep it minimal and fast.
Add real-time push notification system
Allow users to "watch" specific items
Launch a Discord bot version
Try monetization via Ko-fi or light ads
What do you think about this kind of game companion tool?
Any ideas for improving UX or growing the user base?
Have you built similar tools for games or apps?
If you're into casual games, live trackers, or gamified side projects β I'd love to connect!
